Online Licensing - FAQs
Q: What is Online Licensing?
A: Online Licensing replaces the need for customers to have a physical USB License Key connected to their PC when performing EMV testing. Providing greater flexibility, it means that licenses can be accessed and managed anywhere where there is an internet connection. It is more secure and allows customers to monitor and track license use and eliminates the issues of lost or damaged USB keys.
Q: How will this be introduced?
A: As the ICC Solutions’ tools software is updated to a newer version, that tool will then automatically switch to online licensing.
Q: Will you notify customers when a tool switches to Online License capable?
A: Yes, the technical contact(s) that you have registered with us will be notified via the release emails that we send out when there is a new tool version available to download.
Q: If a license is switching over, do I need to do anything?
A: No, customers don’t need to do anything. Once you login to your client area, any tool that is online license capable will have already switched over.
Q: Will I notice any change to the way the tool works?
A: The only change to the tool is that you will be prompted to login if it is online licensed. The tool itself will work in exactly the same way as it does now.
Q: Can I create individual logins for users?
A: Yes. You will have the ability to create individual logins for users meaning that you can allocate the licenses on your account to them.
Q: How do I do this?
A: You will do this through your MyICC page on our website.
Q: Once a tool is Online License capable, can I choose to still use it with the USB key?
A: No, once the tool is Online License capable, the USB key will no longer be an option.
Q: My network is restricted and unable to connect to the internet. What are my options?
A: There is an option to do offline testing with the updated tools. To do this you would need to contact our Helpdesk with a code. They will then send a token by return, allowing you to import the license into the tool.
A: Does this affect TMat (Device) and CTC (Card Test) tools?
A: No – only TMat (Device) tools are moving to online licensing at the moment
Q: What if I have other questions?
